Tyler Hanger Obituary, Toronto, Ontario Death – Wilfrid Laurier University Student Remembered at 22

Tyler William Hanger, a 22-year-old Toronto native and final-year criminology student at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus, passed away on October 3, 2026. His death has left his family, friends, and fellow students mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his kindness, compassion, and aspirations for the future.

According to his published obituary, Tyler was born on April 22, 2004, to Phillip and Rabiab Hanger. To many of his online friends, he was affectionately known as “Dot.” His family described him as a caring person who consistently made time for others and had a gentle way of making people feel valued and appreciated.

From an early age, Tyler developed a passion for sports, including soccer, baseball, and hockey. These interests remained an important part of his life as he grew older. Outside his studies, he enjoyed playing video games and following his favourite hockey and football teams.

Tyler was completing his final year of criminology at Wilfrid Laurier University and hoped to become a police detective. During the summer, he worked at the food terminal for Canadian Fruit Produce, balancing his employment with his academic goals.

His passing represents a heartbreaking loss for his family, who remembered him as a beloved son and brother whose life, though far too short, brought meaningful memories and lasting connections. His kindness, laughter, and generous spirit will remain cherished by those who knew him.

Tyler is survived by his parents, Phillip and Rabiab; his younger brother, Thomas; his grandmother, Wendi Hanger; his uncle, Paul Sullivan; his aunt, Jennifer Sullivan; and his cousins, Jason, Sam, and Owen. He will also be remembered by extended relatives from the Hanger, Cox, Haddrall, and Thananongrak families.

The family has invited those wishing to honour Tyler’s memory to consider donations to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews Canada.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Yorke Chapel.

As family and friends mourn Tyler’s passing, they will carry forward memories of a thoughtful young man whose compassion and warmth touched the lives of others. His hopes for the future and the love he shared with those closest to him will remain an enduring part of his memory.
