Amy Wang, also known to some as Layla, is being mourned by her family and friends after she was killed in a head-on collision in Burnaby, British Columbia, on September 23, 2026.
According to a GoFundMe established by Amy’s family, the 34-year-old was travelling with a friend in an Uber on Highway 1 when an allegedly impaired driver travelling in the wrong direction on the highway collided head-on with their vehicle. Amy and her friend were pronounced dead at the scene. The Uber driver was seriously injured, while the family’s account states that the other driver was not injured.
Amy’s sudden death has left her parents, brother, sister-in-law, two nephews, extended family members, and many friends grieving an unimaginable loss.
The family has created a GoFundMe to help Amy’s parents with funeral expenses and other costs resulting from her unexpected death. According to the fundraiser, all donations will go directly to Amy’s parents as they navigate the financial and emotional burden of losing their daughter.
The family also expressed gratitude to witnesses and first responders who assisted at the scene and offered care during the aftermath of the collision.
In their fundraiser, Amy’s loved ones shared that she had a relationship with Jesus and expressed their faith that she is now in heaven. They are asking for support as they remember Amy and help her parents through this difficult period.
Amy Wang’s death has left a deep void among those who knew and loved her. At just 34, she is being remembered by her family and friends as someone whose absence will be profoundly felt.
The family’s message also carries a broader reminder: Don’t drink and drive.
