Hayden Phillips Obituary, Kentucky Shooting Death – State Police Mourn Trooper Killed in Line-of-Duty Shooting

Kentucky State Police and the law enforcement community are mourning the death of Trooper Hayden Phillips, who was killed Monday while patrolling Interstate 65 in Warren County, Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police confirmed that Phillips, Unit 369, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving on I-65. He was assigned to KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green and was a graduate of Cadet Class 103.

According to authorities, Phillips was shot during a law-enforcement incident on I-65. The shooting prompted a major response from Kentucky State Police and other agencies, while authorities launched a search for the suspect.

KSP issued a Blue Alert for a suspect believed to be driving a bluish-gray 2025 Honda Civic with an Alabama temporary tag, TN018596. The vehicle was last reported near I-65 North at mile marker 75. Authorities have warned that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and urged members of the public not to approach if the vehicle or suspect is spotted.

The interstate was closed in portions of the area as law enforcement responded and investigated the shooting. Additional details surrounding the circumstances of the encounter remain under investigation.

KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. expressed condolences to Phillips’ family, loved ones, and fellow troopers, saying his dedication to duty and commitment to Kentucky would not be forgotten.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear also offered condolences, describing Phillips as a dedicated public servant and confirming that he was a husband and father of three children.

Phillips’ death has deeply affected the Kentucky State Police and the broader law enforcement community. Fellow officers and members of the public are now mourning a trooper who lost his life while carrying out his duties and protecting others.
