A man has died after the motorbike he was riding was involved in a collision with a truck on the Newell Highway between Forbes and West Wyalong today.
Emergency services were called to the highway at Wirrinya early this afternoon following reports that a prime mover had collided with a motorbike. Paramedics attended the scene and treated the rider, but despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.
The rider is believed to have been in his 60s and was reportedly moving sheep in the area at the time of the crash. Police have not yet formally identified him, and further details about his identity are expected to be released once next of kin notifications have been completed.
The driver of the truck, a man in his 20s, was not physically injured in the collision. He was taken to West Wyalong Hospital for mandatory testing as police began examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
