Isaiah VanSlambrouck Obituary, Holland MI Death – Family Mourns Beloved Son and Brother

Isaiah “Sunny” Scott VanSlambrouck, born in Holland, Michigan, on July 9, 2024, was tucked into the Everlasting Arms on Monday, October 5, 2026, surrounded in the days before his passing by an extraordinary storehouse of love from his family and dearest people. Though his life lasted only a little more than two years, Isaiah left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Known for his gentle spirit, joyful warmth, and bright personality, Isaiah seemed to bring sunshine wherever he went. His family describes him as an extraordinary child who continually surpassed expectations. From as early as 16 months old, he was speaking, and by the age of two, he was remarkably articulate. He was observant, curious, and deeply aware of the world around him, possessing an emotional intelligence that allowed him to connect with people and make them feel seen.

Isaiah carried his father’s strength of heart and mind and his mother’s eyes and way of seeing the world. He shared a special bond with his brother, TJ, and their time together was filled with moments in which they taught and learned from one another.

He had a generous spirit, often preferring to help someone else rather than take the spotlight for himself. His encouragement, curiosity, and attentiveness reminded those around him to slow down and appreciate the meaning found in ordinary moments.

Isaiah loved being close to his parents, Grace and Scott. If his mother was in the kitchen, he wanted to be beside her, utensils in hand. If his father was watching Michigan sports, Isaiah was there too, eagerly sharing in his enthusiasm. Despite needing very little sleep, he seemed to have endless energy for the people he loved.

His family will especially treasure the words he shared about God. Four weeks after his second birthday, when his mother asked, “Who is God?” Isaiah answered, “He’s holdin’ you. He’s helpin’ you.” Those words now provide profound comfort to those mourning his loss.

Isaiah is survived by his parents, Grace VanSlambrouck and Scott VanSlambrouck, and his brother, Tau (TJ) VanSlambrouck. He is also survived by his grandparents Mary and John VanSlambrouck, Karen and Ronald Boersema Jr.; great-grandparents Anna “Beppe” Laansma, Donna and Ronald Boersema Sr., and Elaine and Thomas VanZalen; along with many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Moran Park Church, 97 W 22nd St., Holland, Michigan. A funeral service will be held at the church Friday, October 9, at 11 a.m.

Isaiah’s life was brief, but the love, light, laughter, and memories he gave his family will remain with them forever.
