Accident on 67 Today – One Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Poway SR-67 Crash

POWAY, Calif. — A deadly two-vehicle collision on State Route 67 in Poway Thursday morning left one person dead and another seriously injured, prompting a major emergency response and significant traffic closures in the area.

According to information from the Poway Fire Department, the crash occurred shortly after 6 a.m. along SR-67, north of Poway Road. The collision involved two people and two vehicles.

One person was pronounced dead following the crash, while the second person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities have not immediately released the identities of those involved.

The collision resulted in extensive traffic restrictions as emergency crews responded to the scene and investigated what happened. Both northbound and southbound lanes of SR-67 were closed in the area during the response.

Southbound SR-67 was closed at Archie Moore Road, while northbound motorists were directed to continue westbound at Poway Road. Drivers were warned to expect significant delays as the emergency response and investigation continued.

Caltrans’ current highway information confirms that SR-67 in Poway was closed because of a traffic collision Thursday morning, advising motorists to use an alternate route.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office also warned motorists to anticipate traffic delays for several hours while authorities worked at the scene.

At this time, officials have not released further details about what led to the collision, including the circumstances immediately preceding the crash. The identities of the deceased person and critically injured survivor have also not been publicly announced in the information available.
