Keuka College Student Death – Student Dies at Davis Hall as Investigation Underway in New York

JERUSALEM, N.Y. — The Keuka College community is mourning the death of a student who died Tuesday night after emergency responders were called to a campus residence hall, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies, Yates County Ambulance personnel and members of the Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Department responded to Davis Hall at approximately 9:55 p.m. after receiving a report of a woman experiencing breathing difficulties. Emergency personnel arrived and began CPR and other life-saving measures in an effort to save the student.

Despite those efforts, the student was pronounced dead at the scene. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death and said the student’s identity has not been released out of respect for her family.

Keuka College President Amy Storey also notified the college community about the loss Tuesday night, describing the news as a heavy moment for students, faculty and members of the college community.

The circumstances surrounding the student’s death remain under investigation. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office and Yates County Coroner are involved in the investigation, and authorities have said additional information will be released when it becomes available.

At this time, officials have not released the student’s name, age or any further details regarding the circumstances of her death. No cause of death has been publicly announced.

The sudden loss has brought grief to the Keuka College campus as students and members of the college community process the death of one of their peers. Further information is expected as the investigation continues and authorities provide additional updates.
